Ahwa and Shawarmas, a series of images taken by photographer, artist and curator, Yvette Roman. This series was inspired while working in Alexandria and traveling along the Nile River, in 2018.
The series is a collection of stories and explorations from Upper to Lower Egypt. They capture the day to day hustle of a modernized metropolis. It feeds off the chaos of an overpopulated city. The noise. The smells. The city. The food. The fashion, music, and its colors. A city full of culture, tradition and mystery. Ahwa and Shawarmas is a glimpse into modern Egypt. An homage to the past and acknowledgment of the ongoing struggle.
