Collective Memory is a temporary, event-based installation that recreates a sunny afternoon picnic. The community is invited to picnic, socialize, and enjoy the park while encouraged to share their experiences of the past two years of living through a pandemic. Picnic blankets were created through community workshops and fabric remnants and clothing were collected from community members. Guests had lunch on the picnic blankets and explored the stories shared in the Memory Dome. Each picnic blanket was 6ft by 6ft. The memory dome at the center of the installation held Interviews and personal stories from San Ysidro Community members.
